This modern, architect designed centre was built by the three principal doctors; Dr. Soheir Abadier, Dr. George Albert and Dr. Bahgat Gerges, while still living in Dubbo-Central Western NSW.

The centre was opened on the 23rd March, 2009 by the Hon. Jenni George MP, Federal Member.

The Practice strives to provide the highest standard of care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness. We are committed to promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to all patients and the community of the City of Shellharbour.

The team currently consists of 9 doctors working full and part-time hours.   They are supported by two Registered Nurses, five Receptionists, Allied Health Professionals (Diabetes Educator, Dietitian, Podiatrist and Psychologist), Southern IML Pathology and Health Justices Services.

The Doctors work in partnership with the University of Wollongong School of Medicine in mentoring students and assisting where appropriate with research through the Illawarra Health & Medical Research Institute - a joint initiative of the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

Currently the practice is supporting 1 Phase 1 and 1 Phase 3 University of Wollongong medical students and 2 Registrars in their professional clinical placement and studies.

The Shellharbour Medical Centre prides itself in providing continuing education to the wider community of the Shellharbour area; delivering free community education in areas like diabetes management, weight management, infection control, smoking cessation, sun safe skin protection, domestic violence awareness, e-health, antibiotic awareness, asthma awareness and management, sexual health, wills-power of attorney/enduring guardianship, advanced care directives, appropriate use of emergency services, healthy eating and osteoporosis.

Patient Health records, practice appointments and accounting/billing systems are managed by Best Practice software.
